To celebrate the Paris Olympics I have arranged the Gavotte from Johann Sebastian Bach's French Suite No.5 for early intermediate piano. This is one of my favorite themes from the French Suites. It's cheerful and melodic and seems to capture the summery spirit of the Olympics.
I simplified the bass notes and shortened it a little bit. I sincerely think Bach would approve of my edits! But I have also included the original below:
Are you watching the Olympics? We just signed up for Peacock so that we can watch, but I think watching the Olympics ought to be free, don't you?
I hope you enjoy playing the Gavotte! You can play it for your friends as an opening ceremonies piece - I think it would work well as an overture!
I have lots more news to share, but for now, have a great month and make your piano practice your Olympic event! With love and music, Gaili
I have just resumed playing after six weeks off while we moved to southern California. My playing skills sure are rusty and I am revisiting all the pieces in my repertoire to get back up to speed. This new piece will be a welcome challenge to tackle once I am back in form. Thanks!
