Happy Birthday Mozart!

It's almost Mozart's birthday (January 27, 1756!) and I love to celebrate each year by arranging some of Mozart's most beloved pieces for my wonderful subscribers. The Aria from Marriage of Figaro is a bouncy piece that's fun to play with a little challenge, for the late beginner or early intermediate piano player.

Here in Los Angeles we have felt extremely challenged, and need whatever fun we can get. Many of you have reached out and asked how I am doing, so thanks for that. We live about 6 miles from the Palisades fire, so my house has not been threatened. But many of my students, family members and friends have had to evacuate, and several have lost their homes. It has been heartbreaking to say the least. We have had 4 evacuees staying with us for the past week, but we believe that they will be able to return to their (intact) homes tomorrow. I will miss our teary chats and nightly dinners, but am so happy for them to be able to return to their lives unharmed. It has been a horrifically dark time, but music lightens our outlook and brings hope.

I hope you enjoy playing Mozart's Aria on January 27th. Bake a cake and blow out 269 candles for Mozart, and please make a wish for the victims of the Southern California fires. So many have lost everything. Thanks so much.

With lots of love and music, Gaili

P.S. Check out my new Piano Retreat offering! I'm really excited about it! I will talk more about it in future posts 🎵🎵🎵
